Students without ACT/SAT scores OR those who don't meet the prerequisite requirements for introductory coursework with existing scores. The following score minimums must be met to avoid needing to take a placement test.

History

Placement for Foreign Languages

If you have less than 2 years of high school foreign language, enroll in an introductory level foreign language. If you have 2 or more years of high school foreign language, you may enroll in introductory or intermediate level foreign language. You also have the option to take the CLEP examination for introductory course credit. If you have three or more years of high school foreign language or native competency, you have the option of gaining course credit by making a satisfactory score on the Level II CLEP examination and qualifying for advanced placement.

Placement for Honors History

Honors History sections are offered for a 6 hour sequence of World Civilization or U.S. History:
  • HI 101H Honors Survey of World Civilization to 1500
  • HI 102H Honors Survey of World Civilization since 1500
  • HI 201H Honors United States History to 1877
  • HI 202H Honors United States History since 1877

Enrollment in Honors History requires one of the following criteria:

  • 28 or above on ACT Reading Subtest
  • 630 or higher on SAT Reading Subtest

English
There are three modalities for English placement tests.
  • On Campus ( FREE with application to UNA completed )
  • Remote Testing (varied by partnered test center)
  • Virtual Testing ( $28.00)
On-Campus testing is administered on UNA's campus, by UNA staff. Remote Testing is offered by other institutions. Find nearby test centers Virtual Testing is available through Meazure's Learning Proctor U platform. It can be completed from the tester's own PC in their own environment. All modalities get a combined total of (2) attempts within an Academic Year.
Math
Students must purchase a subscription to Aleks.com for a cost of $20.00, which includes 5 test attempts and individualized training modules. Math Placement is only offered on-campus at UNA. There is no virtual option.

  • A valid photo ID
  • Your own laptop, if one would prefer (must support ). A laptop can be provided if the tester should need one.

English placement allows 90 minutes.
Math placement allows up to 3 hours.

Placement testing may be scheduled up to 24 hours in advance. It is typically offered at 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM, Monday - Thursday, with limited options in the Summer.
